EAP Course Discription
The EAP course will be a 2 day course four hours, each day
and cover the following topics.

(1) Local Law 26 of 2004, Fire Department rule 3 RCNY
§6-02, and any amendments or other rules promulgated
pursuant thereto;

(2) Shelter in place, in-building relocation, partial building
evacuation and full building evacuation concepts;

(3) Building communications and announcements;

(4) Building ventilation options;

(5) Use of elevators;

(6) Human services, including building occupants with special
needs and related mobility and communications issues;

(7) Weapons of mass destruction, including dirty bombs and
other radiological weapons;

(8) Hazardous material incidents involving biological agents,
including contamination issues;

(9) Hazardous material incidents involving chemical agents;

(10) Bombs, bomb threats and suspicious packages;

(11) Weather-related emergencies;

(12) Failure of building utilities, mechanical systems and/or
telecommunications systems; and

(13) Training methodology, including application protocols and
post drill critiques.

(14) Civil disturbances and blackouts;

(15) Familiarization with incident command structure and
emergency response operations;

(16) Situational awareness in the context of non-fire
emergencies; and

(17) Case studies, including Sao Paulo, the Coconut Grove fire
and the World Trade Center.

Students must attend all sessions of the training course in order to be eligible to be administered the final course examination and successfully complete the course.
